The Importance of the Inventory List and the Role of Owners
At Sun and Sea Holidays, we use a standard inventory list that serves as a guide for owners. This list contains the basic amenities that should be present in every accommodation to ensure guests have a comfortable stay.
Although we check the standard list periodically, the responsibility for managing and completing the inventory lies with the owner.
The role of the standard inventory list
Our standard inventory list provides a guideline to help owners ensure the quality and completeness of their accommodation. The list acts as:
- Quality guarantee: It ensures that every accommodation offers at least the same basic amenities, regardless of its decoration or style.
- Tool for owners: It helps owners keep an overview and take targeted action when items are missing or worn.
The owner's responsibility
As every accommodation is unique and has a different furnishing and inventory, it is impossible and too time-consuming for Sun and Sea Holidays to check all inventories in detail. For this reason:
- Independent management: The owner should keep the inventory list up to date himself and add to it where necessary in the spring and autumn.
- Bespoke checks: Owners are responsible for replacing or replenishing missing, broken or worn items.
- Periodic checks by us: We periodically check whether the accommodation still meets the standard inventory list and whether the essential facilities are sufficiently present.
Responsibilities in case of Damages or Defects by Guests
At Sun and Sea Holidays, we strive to provide high quality and optimal comfort to all guests. Nevertheless, it may happen that damage to the accommodation or inventory occurs during a stay.
To manage these situations properly, we have clear guidelines for handling damage or necessary replacement:
Role of Sun and Sea Holidays
- Handling necessary repairs or replacements
- If damage or defects have occurred at the hands of a guest and immediate repair or replacement is necessary for the comfort of future guests, Sun and Sea Holidays will ensure that this is resolved as soon as possible. We take responsibility for ensuring the continuity and quality of the accommodation.
- Compensation by the guest
- Any costs arising from necessary repairs or replacements are passed on to the causing guest, in accordance with the agreements in the general terms and conditions and the rental contract. This ensures that owners are not unnecessarily burdened with additional costs.
Role of the owner
- Independent management of the inventory
- Although Sun and Sea Holidays provides immediate solutions to urgent situations, the owner remains responsible for the regular maintenance and replenishment of the inventory during spring and autumn management.
- Reporting defects
- In case of damage or problems that are not immediately visible during the inspection, we ask owners to report it in time. This helps to jointly ensure the best possible condition of the accommodation.
Why this approach works
This approach strikes a balance between efficiency, guest satisfaction and owner responsibility. Acting immediately in case of urgent situations prevents future bookings from being affected. At the same time, owners remain responsible for the long-term management of their property.n

A Good Base Stock: Essential for Excellent Guest Service
Stock/maintenance items are essential to solve common problems in and around accommodation quickly and efficiently.
Think of a clog in the sink, a broken lamp or replacing a battery on a remote control.
These situations often arise unexpectedly and can cause a lot of inconvenience if you don't have the right tools at hand.
It is therefore also necessary for the owner to ensure that stock items are present.
During periodic checks, the owner should check the stock and replenish or replace if necessary.
Failure to comply with this obligation can lead to inconvenience for guests and unnecessary waste of time in troubleshooting.
